Answers
1. What is the difference between the single head, two head and three head?
The Acnelamp has three configurations depending on how far your acne is spread out.  The single head unit is typically used for people that have acne on one spot.  The two and three head are perfect for getting the sides of your face and front of your face at the same time.  Each lamp has the same power per centimeter, but cover different areas.  Having acne all over your face does not mean you absolutely need a three head lamp.  However, most people prefer not to do three sessions of 15 minutes in front of the lamp.

2. What is the difference between red light and blue light?
According to 3rd party research, blue light between 405-420nm kills the bacteria while red light in between 655nm-665nm influences the growth of new cells.  This is designed to destroy acne and repair cells which were damaged by the inflammation and bacteria.  Some customers have requested special all red Acnelamp units to treat Acne Rosacea.  Other customers have used it to reduce facial wrinkles.  Some customers even claim to have used red light to treat cuts and wounds.

3. How Far Away From the Unit Should I Sit?
Based on research, sitting approximately 6 inches from the Acnelamp for approximately 15 minutes each day is recommended.

4. How long and often do I Use the Acnelamp?
Every person’s skin sensitivity to light is different. Do not expect acne to clear up overnight. Based on research, 15-30 minutes each day is recommended. The 15-30 minute session is per area of skin exposed to the Acnelamp. If you have more than one acne area, it is okay to expose each area for 15-30 minutes per day.

A difference in your skin should be observed within 8-12 weeks of consecutive daily use. It is not possible to guarantee success in every case due to some variability in bacteria types. After about 2 to 3 months, you may be able to reduce the daily treatment, but it is recommended you continue using the Acnelamp, to keep new acne eruptions/breakouts under control.

5. Can I use it more than Once a Day?
Some people may use it for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night.

6. Can it only be used on the Faces?
The Acnelamp can be used on any part of the body provided the area can be positioned approximately 6 inches from the unit.

7. Will I Get a Sunburn or Skin Cancer?
The peak wavelengths of light used in the Acnelamp are outside those that may cause damage to the skin. Persons hypersensitive to any amount of light should not use this product.

8. What Is Acne and What Causes It?
Acne is a condition of the sebaceous hair follicle. The hair follicles, or pores, in your skin contain sebaceous glands (also called oil glands). These glands make sebum, which is an oil that lubricates your hair and skin. Under normal conditions, sebum travels up the hair follicle and out to the skins surface. However, with acne, sebum is trapped within the follicle, clogging the follicle. The bacterium that seems to cause the majority of acnes is called Propionibacterium acnes (P.acnes) and is present in everybody’s skin, usually lodged in the hair follicle. The clogged follicle becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. When the sebaceous gland gets clogged, and sebum builds up inside the follicle, P. acnes multiples rapidly and can result in acne.
